Editors Note: We're extending our contest deadline to give more people a chance to participate. Our new deadline is for October 31st. We hope you take advantage of the opportunity!!
Image Do you have an incident, anecdote, second-hand story of culture clashes, manners, decorum or protocol being flouted, misunderstood, enforced, turned on their head?
If you do have an interesting story that flirts with the above topics, tell us! If it's funny or profound enough, you might be eligible for a signed copy of Christian Lutz's Protokoll—his pictorial study of power and hierarchies in the diplomatic realm. Read our article about it here .
To enter this contest:
1) Write your story. It can be anywhere from 500 to 1500 words. It can be about anything as long as it depicts the world of manners, decorum, customs and protocols—and the often bizarre and funny head on culture/personality clashes that we at times run into observing or tip-toeing around them. We are looking for humor, satire and chiefly, profundity. It might be a personal experience or even something you observed on the news. You could tell us about a work experience. A fashion police moment. It could be a comparative study of novels, cultures or traditions. It could be your mother. You're the boss. Call the shots. Win the book...
As always with HELVETICA BOLD, you don't need to be Swiss or of Swiss descent to participate. All you need is an interest in Switzerland and Swiss culture.
2. Log-in or register (if you're not already a member) to Swiss Roots. You can do this at the top right hand corner of this page.
3. Once you're in, click on 'My Stories' (in the left hand column). Click on 'write a new story'. Submit your story here. Please indicate that it is a contest entry by putting "PROTOKOLL" in the title, just before your actual title.
4. Any submission containing content offensive to any groups or persons will not be published.
5. All submissions should be received by October 31st. The winner will be announced on November 15th. Everyone who participates will receive a HELVETICA BOLD T-shirt. So in fact, there are no losers here, n'est-ce pas?

it's your friend,
Ms. Helvetia
