Editors Note: We're extending our contest deadline to give more people a chance to participate. Our new deadline is for October 31st. We hope you take advantage of the opportunity!!
If you're intrigued by our profile of TRUCE Magazine , here's a chance to win a vintage copy. We have one of each volume to give away. To win the one of your choice, you need to write a 500-750 word personal manifesto on a theme corresponding with the volume you are interested in.
VOLUME I features the by now legendary urban graphics of Shepard Fairey; a photographic profile of coastal Brooklyn's last frontier, Red Hook; and excerpts from the personal diaries and artwork of Dan Eldon, who was stoned to death in Somalia. He was the youngest reporter ever to work for Reuters. The theme of the Manifesto to win this volume will be: LIVING FOR THE CITY .
VOLUME II is dedicated to Korea: Land of the Morning Calm. It features unexpected and often surprising cross-sections of Korean Society from the voiced struggles of a rural rice farmer to the smart urban gleam of Shinjuku district; to the triumphs and setbacks of a defected North Korean film actress starting from scratch in a different Korea... The theme of the Manifesto for this volume will be: PERSONAL DISCIPLINE.
VOLUME III is the Genius Issue. The cover features Jimi Hendrix, from an hitherto unseen photo shoot by Gered Mankowitz. The seminal artist, Louise Bourgeois and the poet James Sheldon Tanner are also profiled here. The theme of the Manifesto for this volume is: MY DEFINITION OF GENIUS
VOLUME IV is about Passion. What gets you going? Looming in the forefront are the words and images of "Northwest Passage" by Joshua Paul, photographer and lover of the stark beauty of ice floes; distinctive street art captured by Kelly Burns; the work of Turner Prize winner Wolfgang Tillmans... Manifesto: THE USES OF PASSION
